THEATRE OF ABSURDITY
A site specific installation at Collyer Bristow Gallery, London, 2019
Hundreds of Stately Homes in the past were raized to the ground for fear of death duties and the many that were saved are now visited as museums of past theatrical opulence. They are now kept in perpetual suspension, their historical nostalgia and theatrical façades containing empty sets for farcical plays. Creating grand spaces of habitation and thresholds that are manifested as fantastical places that cannot exist and using different uncanny properties as conduits for intimacy, existence, status and personality. The studio table lies there as a holding space of props and players waiting to be reconfigured and animated in unending scenarios.
